At Child And Parent Services our mission is to prevent child abuse, value children and strengthen families in Elkhart County. We have a great team and a fun work environment.

Position:  Family Support Specialist

In this role you will work with parents in improving parenting skills and optimizing the home environment for the physical and mental well being of the children.  You may act as a liaison between families and other community agencies, you may assist parents in making and attending appointments for doctors, social service agencies etc.  You will establish home visit plans with goals, objectives and activities and report on observations made during visits.   This role involves working one on one with individual families in their home.

Candidates must be interested in learning about child development, as well as the dynamics of abuse and neglect.

Hours:  This is a full time position.  Hours are primarily M-F 8-5, but some flexibility to meet with families outside these times (if necessary) may be required. 

Qualifications:

Candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a high school education, or equivalent.  Must have a current driver’s license and vehicle (to travel to clients’ homes). 


Position:  Child Care Teacher/Aide

We currently have a Child Care Teacher position available. In this role you will provide supportive and nurturing care to infants, toddlers, and school‑age children in the children's components of Parent Education/Support programs. You will plan and carry out activities with the children and ensure that each child in the program receives the highest quality care.  Specifically, in this role you will:

  1. Provide for emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children in the Children's programs.
  2. Assist with direct care of children as needed.  Develop nurturing relationships with parents and children, supervise play, plan and guide activities, model appropriate behavior, and provide positive feedback.  Guide Aide’s in providing   structure and discipline for children in the program.
  3. Ensure that snack is provided and the child care room is clean and orderly.

Hours:   8 Hours per week (evenings)

Qualifications:

Associates degree or higher in child development, education or human services field, or equivalent.  Spanish language skills preferred.   Competitive hourly wage.
