Instructor – Bilingual - Parent Education (Part Time)

CAPS is committed to supporting parents and teaching parenting skills through classes and support groups. The work our instructors do helps to better equip parents for the challenges they face, and strengthens families in our community. Making a difference in the life of a family can be a very positive, rewarding experience.

This is a part time position. The position involves teaching one Thursday evening class (approximately 3-5 hours per week, with additional hours required during the initial training phase). Duties Include:

  • Facilitate assigned series of classes.
  • Instruct families by engaging them in interactive learning processes.
  • Reinforce and model positive parenting techniques.
  • Plan, coordinate & participate in parent/child activities
  • Document families’ participation and maintain adequate files.
  • Complete evaluation measures as required.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a four year college degree in Social Work, Education, Human Services or related field. Must have an understanding of family dynamics, effective parenting techniques, child development, domestic violence and child abuse. Knowledge of parent education theories, current trends and resources helpful. Must have good oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a wide range of individuals and diverse populations. Spanish Language Skills are required, as this position involves conducting classes in Spanish


Family Support Specialist - Healthy Families (Full Time)

In this role you will work with parents in improving parenting skills and optimizing the home environment for the physical and mental well being of the children. You may act as a liaison between families and other community agencies, you may assist parents in making and attending appointments for doctors, social service agencies etc. You will establish home visit plans with goals, objectives and activities and report on observations made during visits. These roles involve working one on one with individual families in their home.

Candidates must be interested in learning about child development, as well as the dynamics of abuse and neglect.

The Family Support Specialist position is a full time position. Hours are primarily M-F 8-5, but some flexibility to meet with families outside these times (if necessary) is required.

Qualifications:

Minimum
This position serves families who speak primarily Spanish, and requires candidates be fluent in speaking and writing Spanish. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age with a high school education, or equivalent. Must have a current driver’s license and vehicle (to travel to clients’ homes).

Preferred
Prefer candidates with a 4 year degree in social service, child development, education, psychology or related field.


Director - Development / Marketing

Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for the planning, implementation and ongoing management of CAPS’ fund development and marketing programs. Programming may include annual appeal, major gifts, targeted campaigns, planned giving, special events and general fund raising. The focus of this position will be major gift management and planned gift development. This position also oversees the marketing function at CAPS, to promote the visibility of CAPS in the community as well as promoting the prevention of child abuse. This position includes supervision of staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Responsibilities

  1. In conjunction with the CEO, Board and Administrative Team develop multi-year strategic fundraising plans to meet agency requirements
  2. Develop strategic programs and procedures for the origination of new relationships and the enhancement of current relationships among constituents. These may include a mix of informational programs, personal contacts, solicitation appeals and special events.
  3. Develop and execute a moves management process for all major gift donors
  4. Develop and implement a planned giving program

Fundraising

  1. Working with the CEO & Board, identify, cultivate and solicit major and planned gifts. Involve staff and board members as appropriate in this process.
  2. Develop and manage the various development vehicles such as annual fund drive, special events, planned giving etc.
  3. Strengthen donor relationships through personal contact and other means.
  4. In concert with the staff, create or enhance systems and services for gift processing, donor and volunteer stewardship and recognition, and reporting.
  5. Prepare detailed plans of action for all approved fundraising and community relations programs, including timelines and budgets to support their implementation. Develop and implement a calendar with cultivation activities for all donors based on donation levels/segmentation.
  6. Work with the staff to identify new grant opportunities, support staff in writing and obtaining grants.
  7. Ensure that all gifts receive the proper acknowledgement.

Marketing

  1. Provide overall direction for CAPS’ marketing and communication efforts.
  2. In conjunction with Senior Management, work to ensure CAPS has a strong and consistent message and brand identity in Elkhart County.
  3. Provide strategic direction for CAPS marketing and communication efforts, ensure internal marketing staff and external resources are properly aligned to support these plans.
  4. Act as a public spokesperson for CAPS.

Organizational/Staff/Personal Development

  1. Provide Leadership to the board Fund Development Committee and the board Community Outreach committee.
  2. Establish and maintain working relationships with the senior management team and Board to keep them engaged in programs related to the development area.
  3. Provide leadership to and assess the performance of staff in the development and marketing areas, provide for training of staff and volunteers as needed.
  4. Develop a base of volunteers to assist with development activities.
  5. Assemble a task force of community leaders, donors and staff to evaluate and assist in planning and carrying out signature events.
  6. Continue personal and professional growth through participation in community organizations, philanthropic associations and professional conferences

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  1. Advanced verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present effectively in one on one, small and large group settings.
  2. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  4. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  5. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports.
  6. Skill in developing and implementing new programs and campaigns.

Minimum Job Requirements (Education/Experience/Certifications)

Candidates should have a proven track record of success in development positions of increasing responsibility and demonstrate a broad understanding of the development field. Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 5 years experience in development related roles required.

Team Coordinator & Child Interviewer - Child and Family Advocacy Center (CFAC) (30 hours/Week)

Team Coordinator

  1. Ensure that written protocols and agreements are current and appropriate
  2. Initiate communication with team members (both policy and practice levels) to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of the multidisciplinary process.
  3. Proactively identify barriers to achieving team goals and seek solutions.
  4. Establish and maintain adequate data tracking and reporting mechanisms. Use data to inform decision-making.
  5. Maintain interview schedule & ensure adequate coverage for needed interviews
  6. Work with the Grants Manager to submit grant applications and reports.
  7. Provide supervision and support of child interviewers and family advocates.

Forensic Interviewer

  1. Conduct effective forensic interviews with children who are believed to be possible victims of child abuse and/or neglect, following established protocol.
  2. Complete required documentation and reports.
  3. Testify in criminal and/or juvenile court when needed to clarify information obtained during an interview with a child

Outreach Services

  1. Conduct training sessions with community professionals who require education about child abuse interviewing dynamics. Conduct professional and community in-service trainings.
  2. Provide resource information to families of children who are believed to be possible victims of child abuse and/or neglect.
